Hepcat 2013

Three things: Bikes, music and cats! That’s right, it’s as if your dreams have come true! On Saturday, August 31, 2013, downtown Raleigh will host the third annual Hepcat Race. We are proud to ride again for SAFE Haven Cat Shelter & Clinic, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping cats and kittens all across the Triangle.

You’ll be able to win a whole slew of gear (and even a new bike!) from awesome places like Oak City Cycling, Chrome Industries, State Bicycle Co., Bagaboo, Outlier, Knog, Baileyworks, Hold Fast and fyxaxtion. We’ll also have music to give away, including CDs and LPs from our friends at Three Lobed Records, Dead Oceans, Merge, Profound Lore and Tompkins Square Records. And, of course, we’ll have gift cards and other fun items from local downtown Raleigh eateries and pet establishments!

So, you think you want to participate? AWESOME! You’re doing a good thing. And don’t worry, you’ll be rewarded for your efforts. Registration is $10 and all proceeds will benefit SAFE Haven Cat Shelter & Clinic.

About Hepcat

The Hepcat is a race for fun! We welcome all skill levels, and offer a unique way to enjoy downtown Raleigh through a scavenger-style competition.

When is the race?

The race will begin at 2:00 pm at Oak City Cycling Project on Saturday, August 31, 2013. The race will conclude at 4:00 pm at the same location. Winners will be announced at 4:30 pm. Check-in for the race begins at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31st, 2013.

What is the route?

Inspired by a scavenger hunt, Hepcat’s route is kept secret until race day. The race is contained within downtown Raleigh.

How do I register? What is the cost?

Registration begins in July, and lasts until August 31, 2013. Registration is $10, and can be completed on our website. We accept all major credit cards, as well as Paypal. Those not wishing to ride may request that their registration fee go directly to SAFE Haven as a donation.

What’s the money for?

Hepcat is a charity race, with all proceeds going to benefit SAFE Haven Cat Shelter & Clinc. For over seventeen years, SAFE Haven—a nonprofit, no-kill shelter—has provided the Triangle with low-cost spay and neuter services, along with adoptions and public education. Through the race, Hepcat aims to raise enough money to sponsor the adoption fees of all the cats currently residing in the shelter. Learn more about SAFE Haven through our website, or visit them here.

What can I win?

Hepcat aims to connect cycling, music and animal enthusiasts together for a fun and challenging race, and our sponsors have generously donated prizes based on all three groups of interest. First, second and third prizes will include cycling-related gifts from Oak City Cycling, Chrome Industries, State Bicycle Co., Bagaboo, Outlier, Knog, Baileyworks, Hold Fast and fyxaxtion.

Music, including CDs and LPs, will come from Three Lobed Records, Dead Oceans, Merge, Profound Lore and Tompkins Square Records.

Raffle (tickets sold separately): For those unable to ride, we will also offer a drawing for top prizes, with all raffle ticket proceeds going directly to SAFE Haven.
